EXETER Northcott Theatre brings the current craze for parkour — otherwise known as free running — to the stage this month, as it plays host to Kompany Malakhi's latest production Boxin tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday at 7.30pm.

Boxin represents a unique collaboration between Kompany Malakhi's artistic director, Kwesi Johnson, and New York theatre director, Dr Daniel Banks, weaving a tale of stereotypes and monsters with its cast of five complex and individual characters.

Set designer Steve Denton makes the most of Johnson's anti-gravity choreography with some inspired structural engineering that interacts with the performers as they ricochet around the stage. Established in 1994, Kompany Malakhi was formed out of Kwesi Johnson's desire to combine theatre forms and movement styles.

Kwesi Johnson trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD). He also trained independently in capoeira, urban dance forms, Afrikan and Caribbean dance. Box office 01392 493493.
