Okehampton Seconds 20
Crediton 5
IT was always going to be a hard match, with Crediton firsts being two divisions above Okehampton and then losing the toss and playing down the slope with the wind in the first half.
There was a dramatic start with Crediton attacking and kicking the ball dead. From the ensuing 22 drop out Mark Curtis dropped out the 'wrong way' to John Donovan, who caught, ran and slipped over to touch down for a try.
Periods of pressure from both sides led to nothing, until Adam Curtis attacked from midfield and scored in the corner, brother Mark converting.
But a moment's lack of concentration saw Crediton score a try.
The second half started with Crediton using more vocal energy than physical, and paying the penalty. A Mark Curtis kick made it 15-5. Crediton were under pressure, and needed at least two scores.
Mark Curtis ran at them and there could only be one result as long as the Okes kept tackling.
The final throw of the dice came from man of the match Mark Curtis, who scored in the corner.
