Devon & Exeter League Premier Division Okehampton Argyle 2 Buckland Athletic 0 THIS was a better performance from Argyle, although supporters were made to sweat it out until ten minutes from time before a second goal killed off a strong Buckland challenge. Early play was even but for once it was Argyle who got the breakthrough in the 15th minutes. A break down the left by Steve Kinsey saw his cross thumped into the net from the edge of the box by Matt King. for a while it was uncertain if the goal was going to stand; the linesman?s flag was up, but the referee overruled him and awarded the goal. Buckland forced several corners during the rest of the half, but Okehampton?s defence held firm, with Mike Vernon marshalling his troops in fine fashion. The return of Steve Williams up front added the punch that was missing last Friday, but the one chance he had late in the half went straight into the keeper?s arms. The second half was a nail biting affair with Argyle creating chance after chance only to see the shots saved or put wide when it seemed easier to score. To remind Argyle that the game was still not won, Scott Leaman in goal pulled off an important save in a one on one situation on the hour. The all important goal came ten minutes from time and it was worth waiting for. Steve Kinsey picked the ball up midway in the Buckland half, beat a couple of defenders with some fine dribbling skills then coolly sent the keeper the wrong way before shooting into the corner. Argyle face another tough fixture this week when they make the long journey to Axminster. Kick-off 3pm. Devon & Exeter League Premier Division Feniton 4 Okehampton Argyle 1 THIS was a severe blow to Argyle?s hopes of remaining in the premier division ? Feniton and Okehampton now change places at the bottom of the table. Argyle started with several key players missing through injury or holidays, including strikers Steve Williams and Mark Burdus and keepers Dearing and Clift. Scott Leaman, making his first team debut in goal, turned in a good performance, pulling off several fine saves. He can be excused for making a blunder when letting the fourth goal slip through his hands as by then the games was already over. Early play was evenly contested, but as in other recent games Argyle conceded the early goal first. A corner for Feniton in the 15th minute was only partly cleared, the ball falling nicely for J Hurley to shoot home from six yards. Argyle enjoyed their best spell over the next 20 minutes with Sandercock, Kinsey and Agnew all testing the Feniton keeper, but lacking power in their shots. Ten minutes before the break Argyle did equalise, a cross from the right by Kinsey was scooped past the Feniton keeper from close range by Rob Miller. The rest of the game really belonged to Feniton with Argyle losing their shape both in defence and attack. Chris Brown put Feniton ahead on the hour, and two more goals in the last five minutes gave the home side a deserved victory.
