I AM currently researching my family history, and believe your readers in Devon may be able to assist me.
An Irish great-uncle of mine emigrated to Argentina where he lived and worked around the time of the first world war. Sometime in 1920 or 1921, he married an English widow, who, I am told, was originally from Devon.
The name of her first husband was Hubert Carr, though I do not know for certain where he was from. Hubert Carr died in Santa Cruz province, Argentina, on September 7 1920. There was at least one child, a son, from the marriage; he later joined the armed forces, as years later he achieved the rank of commander.
I am hoping that Hubert Carr?s widow has descendants and/or remaining family still living in Devon, and at least one of them will read this! If so, I would love to hear from anyone who can perhaps help me fill in the gaps in my knowledge about my uncle.
