THE West Devon Association of the National Trust has arranged a talk by Mick Burke from the North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team (NDSRT).

The NDSRT is a voluntary organisation based in Okehampton and its role is to provide a specialist land and swift water search and rescue facility with advanced casualty care capability for missing and injured persons on Dartmoor and across Devon, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

The team responds to 999 calls, initiated through the police, and supports both the fire brigade and the ambulance service with, for example, difficult evacuations from steep ground where their expertise of hauling stretchers with ropes is required.

The talk will take place on Thursday, April 16 at 2pm at Bridestowe Village Hall. Admission is £3.

Everyone is welcome.
