TAVISTOCK Area Support Services has launched its new winter programme of events, with additional activities and outings.
After the continued success of its table tennis club, which now meets three times a week, TASS launched a badminton club on Wednesdays from 2pm to 4pm at Lamerton Village Hall.
While on Thursdays from 10.30am to 12.30pm at the Anchorage Centre, Tavistock, people can enjoy a game of scrabble, whist, bridge or chess.
TASS has also put together an autumn trips list, visiting places of interest, pantomimes and shopping.
These activities complement the existing ones — line-dancing, music and movement, whist, social groups and tea dances.
Nigel Hands, outreach worker for TASS, said: 'The programme is varied and meets the needs of so many people, keeping them active and very much part of the community, either through physical or mental activities, helping them to live longer, independently within their local community.
Besides the activities at the Anchorage Centre, TASS runs weekly outreach centres in Lifton, Mary Tavy, Milton Abbot, Horrabridge, Bere Alston, Bere Ferrers, Princetown, Yelverton and Buckland Monachorum, where older people can meet and enjoy a light lunch.
TASS is a local charity which makes a difference to local people over 55. For more information contact either Nigel or Andy Lyle at the Anchorage Centre on 01822 616958.
