MEMBERS of the 1st Tavistock Scout Group have shown that safety is number one priority, after they scooped a special donation from Western Power Distribution.
The scouts won a £500 prize after they came up with the winning idea in the electricity company?s annual safety competition. The group designed a new piece of equipment to help in voltage testing and scooped the top prize.
The scout group has been able to buy several new lifejackets and other outdoor equipment with the money, which will be used during canoeing and other adventure activities.
Western Power team manager Tony Frowde said: ?Safety is a top priority for us at Western Power Distribution, so we are pleased to think that a donation from our safety competition has been put to such good use by the scouts. We are always keen to encourage safety among young people.?
