A GROUP of scouts demonstrated the severity of homelessness recently, by camping outside in nothing but cardboard boxes for protection from the bitter elements.

1st Buckland Scouts at Yelverton organised the sponsored sleep-out to raise awareness and funds for a local charity helping the homeless in the area.

A soup kitchen style tent was erected and all the scouts partook in a mug of soup and a bread roll before retiring to their boxes for the night.

Thanks were expressed to Ace Packaging for supplying the temporary accommodation which stood up to the torrential rain. The scouts proudly raised in excess of £100.
