TAVISTOCK Youth Café Plus Group has formed a football team and is on the look out for more players.
The group, run for special needs children in the area, meets on Mondays at the youth café in Pixon Lane.
Training will run alongside the meetings at 5pm at the Crowndale pitches. A handful of Tavistock Town Under 14's will be assisting to help team members learn a few skills and play a short game before heading back to the youth café for refreshments.
Allen Lewis, secretary of Tavistock Youth Café Plus Group, said the idea was to get a team playing well enough to have matches against other special needs groups in Devon.
'We already have a match planned for next year's Son-Rise Cup Football Fun Day against Newton Soccability FC from Newton Abbot. I am really excited about this idea as it opens more doors for our special children in this area and, as always, local businesses are up for helping, with Tavistock Hire Centre sponsoring a trophy and Active Co the medals.
'As a result we need more players so please call me to join in,' Allen said.
