ST Joseph's School in Launceston has been shortlisted to win the Outstanding Progress – Independent School Award at the Education Business Awards being held at the Emirates Football Stadium in London today (Thursday).
The school has been nominated for excellent GCSE, Key Stage 1, 2 and Foundation results, sporting successes; community fundraising; outstanding music success (performing at the Royal Albert Hall) and for winning the 2011 ISA Award for Excellence.
Perhaps the most important reason for being nominated is that the school has been recognised for producing confident, well-mannered students in line with the school's philosophy of A Firm Foundation For Life.
Four other well-known schools nationally have been shortlisted alongside St Joseph's including St Paul's School London and Caterham School Surrey.
St Joseph's School is the only school shortlisted for an award from the South West Peninsula. The Outstanding Progress – Independent School Award is presented to the school that has made outstanding progress and offers an excellent standard of education for its pupils.
