SEVERAL members of an Okehampton slimming group are celebrating a weighty success at the most difficult time of year for dieters.
The members of the town's Weight Watchers group have lost an incredible 28 stone or 405lbs between them and achieved their target weight just before the start of the festive season.
Class leader Kathryn Roxburgh said: 'I think it's fantastic, it really is.
'Most people leave it till after Christmas. One of the girls has lost seven stone, which is amazing and it really isn't easy — and quite a few of them work in a cheesecake factory!'
She paid particular tribute to one of the dieters, Sue Jackson, who actually tastes cheesecake for a living!
The thriving group, which has around 80 members, meets every Wednesday at 6.30pm in the Masonic Hall, Okehampton.
'We just follow a healthy eating plan — and it works,' said Kathryn.
