A COUNTY-WIDE oil buying scheme which aims to reduce householders' annual spend on heating oil is looking for helpers to make the project even more successful.

Devon Oil collective is run by the Community Council of Devon and backed by Devon County Council and helps reduce costs for users through the power of bulk buying.

One of the things which make county-wide schemes like the Devon Oil Collective so successful are the volunteer local co-ordinators.

The Devon Oil Collective aims to have one local co-ordinator in every parish in the county.  Their role is to promote the scheme in their parish or village and as members join, to take any orders once a month.

A spoksperson for the collective said: 'Could you spare the time to be a volunteer in our scheme?

'As a co-ordinator you do not need to handle any money, or do any ringing around or negotiating yourself.  You just collect the orders and pass them directly to us.

'In return, you get your membership to the Devon Oil Collective for free.'
