Tavistock Swimming Club eventually ended up at Exeter's Riverside Leisure Centre to take part in the final round of the National Speedo League. Due to last minute re-arrangements they had to swim against five teams – Oddicombe, Cirencester, Newquay Cormorants, Bristol Central and Ilfracombe – all in the league above them, but the team rose to the challenge, producing excellent results. Once again, Pete Freedman continued his excellent form, with first places in both the men's open individual medley and the men's open 100m backstroke. Eleven year old Sam Campbell-Hingston also had a good evening, coming first in both the boys' 10 to 11 years 50m butterfly and 50m breaststroke. Sam Harmsworth won the boys' 13/U 50m freestyle in a personal best Devon County time of only 28.91 seconds, which resulted in him being named 'Swimmer of the Gala'. With excellent support from both family and friends watching in the gallery and the team cheering at the lane end, everyone put in 100% effort, finishing in fourth place. This resulted in a final placing of 15th in the Division. Taking part (with number of personal best times in brackets) were Kirsty Best (1), Holly Brimble (1), Kameron Brimble (1), Sam Campbell-Hingston (1), Will Carter (1), Matt Edwards (1), Sam Harmsworth (1), Charlotte Mellor (1), Chris Ralph (1), Josh Stephens (1), Alexandra Stoecker (1), Rebecca Tansey (1), Tom Waddington (1), Abigail Best, Michael Best, Tom Crocker, Lily Edwards, Megan Fell, Pete Freedman, Chloe Greep, Natalie Greep, Chris Mills, Laura Radgick, Kieran Rookes, Nathaniel Rookes, Catriona Smith, Kirsty Smith, Josh Thackham, Ella Waddington, Amy Warnett and Ross Williams.
