Cornwall Women's Football League Cup

St Blazey 0

Callington Town 1

DIVISION two side Callington maintained their unbeaten start to the season with an impressive win over their division one's St Blazey.

Callington took the game to the home side with a barrage of attacks.

With Callington midfielder Katy Sheffield, delivering more than ten corners in the first half alone, the away side came close to opening the scoring on numerous occasions, but failed to break the deadlock due to some good defending and brave goalkeeping.

Maintaining constant pressure on the home side's goal, Callington came close to scoring on the half hour mark when a close range effort by striker Kate Lewis was pushed onto the post by an in-form Blazey keeper.

In the second half Callington continued to move the ball well on an excellent playing surface.

Town's best chance to open the scoring came when a Jodie Shipton shot was handled on the line by a St Blazey defender. However, the resulting penalty was put over the bar.

When it appeared that nothing would go in for the away side, a challenge between Sheffield and the Blazey keeper ended up with the ball falling to Callington winger Sam Veale who slotted home from six yards
