HURDWICK Golf Club held two competitions during August, and Steve Howells won the Derek Blackmore Salver for the second year running by a very large margin, in difficult playing conditions. He returned an excellent 40 points, and Tony Woods took second place from Tony Pearson on countback, both with 33 points. In the monthly medal, the winner of Division One was Phil Bryant with a net 67. Second was Tony Pearson, on countback from Martin Stevens in third place, both with a net 70. John Bailey produced a magnificent net 62 to win Division Two, followed by Oliver Richards with 65 and Chris Tear with 66. Leading ladies were Yvette Wood and Sally Arscott, both with a net 69, but Yvette had the better back nine. Tony Pearson, Paul Mace and Tony Woods won the ?Twos? ball sweep.
