Okehampton 3
OKEHAMPTON men's hockey team rebounded from last week's disappointing loss in the league to record a sound victory on Saturday.
Okehampton quickly had the home side's goal under pressure and were rewarded with several short corners. Accurate ball from Phil Hampson gave Sean Glossop time to shoot and Simon Bourne followed up quickly to score from the rebound.
Okehampton kept the PGs' goal under siege for most of the rest of the half, but were unable to convert pressure into goals.
The second half saw Okehampton under severe pressure as PGs tried to equalise. Keith Dennis made crucial saves in goal and Mark Clapham played well in defence, tackling with real conviction.
Okehampton soaked up the pressure and when they had the chance broke out of defence with purpose.
Ian Titchener's quick ball from defence put Steve Sage into space and as he pressed forward he picked his spot superbly to add to the Okehampton score.
Okehampton scored a third through Sage in a similar fashion.
This week Okehampton are at home at 1pm against Plymouth A.
