A FENCE may be placed in a corner of Bridestowe?s sporting green because of fears for the safety of toddlers.
Cranford Brook runs alongside part of the green, and councillors at their meeting last Thursday heard that children had built dams in the river which was accessed through a hole in the hedge.
Cllr Brian Maddaford said that just below the children?s play area the ground was low and a toddler could fall into the river.
?We cannot put a fence all the way round the green, but the little piece by the corner could be fenced off,? he said.
Concern was expressed that dams built by children could cause debris to pile up and lead to flooding.
Councillors decided to hold a site meeting at the sporting green to see where a fence could be erected.
l The parish council is to advertise for someone to paint and reinstate the football goalposts on the sporting green. Councillors decided whoever was accepted to do the work would be paid.
