LEW TRENCHARD Primary School welcomed guests from China at the end of term so they could experience what life was like in a rural school.

Lisa Colon, a former pupil at Lew Trenchard and her partner Ramon, met in China in 2010 and for the past two years have organised tours for small groups of Chinese families to experience real local life.

The families spend weeks travelling in Bath, Oxford, Cambridge, London and in the Westcountry, exploring local spots and enjoying a taste of the local countryside.

Lisa said: 'For families that come from a city with a population of 14-million, spending a week on a farm in Lewdown is certainly an experience for them!

'We travel to the local towns, see some of the stunning scenery and taste the local food, as well as giving some lessons on cultural differences and British expectations.'

During the day at Lew Trenchard Primary School, Chinese children were able to enjoy PE classes and the games equipment.
