TAVISTOCK RFC mini-junior section held its first registration day on Sunday.

The boys squads from U7 to U15 and the girls U12, U15 and U18 teams made their way up to the club to register for the new season ahead. The U16s were in action, playing a league match at Bideford.

Tavistock is a friendly, community minded club and would like to invite all those young people in and around the town who are interested to come and join us having fun playing rugby. All coaches are qualified and CRB checked, there are first-aid trained volunteers, and each squad must have at least one adult who has attended a safeguarding children course. These are all requirements of the RFU Seal of Approval which Tavistock RFC (junior and senior sections) will formally receive in the next few weeks. The club has formal links with Tavistock and Kelly Colleges, with many pupils from both schools playing with us. By the end of this season it is hoped that we will have a formal link with all the primary schools in Tavistock and surrounding areas.

Senior chairman, Nigel Larcombe-Williams, secretary Jeff Lawson, webmaster Jim Tomkins and Duncan Law, vice captain of the first XV all joined the junior committee of Mhairi McCall (chair), Jon Pratten (secretary), Mandy Luffman (registration officer) and Jill Kingham (club welfare officer) on Sunday.

A second registration day will be held at the club next Sunday at 10am. For more information call Mhairi McCall on 01822 610835 or 07803 594962, email [email protected]">[email protected] or go to the http://www.tavistockrugbyclub.co.uk">www.tavistockrugbyclub.co.uk website,
