THE official CILIP Carnegie book awards were shadowed by an event held in Tavistock College library in conjunction with the English department. Colleges from Plymouth and the surrounding area were involved in the event last Thursday. It was opened by author Charles Butler, who also presented the prizes. Each college delivered a ten-minute presentation championing their Carnegie children's book choice. The presentations ranged from chat shows to flip charts and Power Points. Joint first place for best presentation was shared by Tavistock College and Notre Dame. Ruby Red by Linzi Glass was voted the best book, not agreeing with the actual winner, local author Philip Reeve's Here Lies Arthur.
