Horrabridge Rangers 2

Saltash Youth 2

HORRABRIDGE played their first game in five weeks and were up against a side that has not dropped a point all season.

The home side started brightly and created several chances, but found visiting goalkeeper Conor Clark hard to beat. The visitors took the lead when the away striker was allowed space to turn and shoot home from 16 yards. They continued to apply pressure on the Horrabridge defence but Northam, Dyke, Bailey and Madar held their line well — Northam had a hand in the equaliser when his long ball was well won by Johnson who sent Courtney Fox racing clear to round the keeper and place the ball in the corner of the net.

With Max Burgess and Josh Birch dominating the midfield Horrabridge created more chances, but were unable to find the back of the net.

The second half was end to end for the first ten minutes, and the visitors went in front when the striker finished well from ten yards.

Horrabridge started to get their grip back on the game and had plenty of chances with Johnson, Fry and Burgess all going close. Horrabridge finally found the goal they deserved when James Dent's through ball sent Courtney Fry clear. He cleverly crossed for the arriving Aaron Johnson to drill home from six yards.

Horrabridge piled the pressure on Saltash, but keeper Clark was in top form. Saltash dominated play for the final five minutes, but Horrabridge, well marshalled at the back by Northam and goalkeeper Oliver Cox, thwarted attacks.

Man of the match: Max Burgess.
