Sam Twine from Tavistock College, spent half term at a training camp run by GB Rowing at National Watersports Centre, Nottingham.
Year 13 student Sam was training with the top U18 year olds in the UK, with the hope of being selected to represent his country at that age level's rowing squad next summer.
The selection trials start in November in Lincoln, carrying on through the winter, so Sam needs to keep up a rigourous training programme, as well as studying for his 'A' levels, over the next months.
'It's hard to fit everything in sometimes, especially with all the travelling.' said Sam, 'but I'm going to give this my best shot!'
Sam rows at PARC (Plymouth Amateur Rowing Club) and enjoys support from Tavistock Gym. He originally learnt to row with Tamar and Tavy Gig Club.
