Underhill Group Plymouth & West Devon Combination Senior Division Tavistock 2nds 4 Yealm Goosewell Rangers. 0 WITH a full compliment of players Tavistock could field a strong team against Yealm in the only match played in the senior division last Saturday. Tavistock got off to a sharp start in the first half with good solid work in midfield and a tight defence denying Yealm much in the way of opportunities. Tavistock could have taken the lead in the first ten minutes if not for a number of valiant saves by the Yealm keeper but they gradually tightened the screws. It was only a matter of time before the keeper succumbed to a powerful shot from Craig Hodge, supplied by full back Marc Davis. Coming out for the second half, Tavistock looked full of confidence and within nine minutes were 2-0 up when a delightful midfield ball was played into the path of Martin Hancock who took on the Yealm defenders and made no mistake with a fine volley into the top of the net. Five minutes later a corner was converted by Neil Talliss who leapt above the Yealm defence to head in the third. For a brief period Tavistock?s pace slackened. Yealm attempted to take advantage, but failed to capitalise. The last 15 minutes saw Tavistock step up a gear and from a short corner a penetrating cross found Ben Palmer, unmarked on the far post, who drove the ball past the keeper.
