ROTARIANS from Okehampton have had their focus on the crocus in recent months — well, 1,000 actually.
Back in the autumn, members of Okehampton Rotary Club planted 1,000 crocus bulbs on a bank hedge on Exeter Road, and now they have blossomed into the shape of the Rotary wheel.
The display is part of a national campaign — Focus on the Crocus — to let everyone know about the international campaign to eradicate polio worldwide, being spearheaded by Rotary International.
The purple colour of the Ruby Giant crocus represents the colour of the dye dabbed on children's little fingers to indicate they have been immunised against polio. The Rotary International campaign has been running since 1985.
