THE White Horse in Launceston plays host to an evening of American roots music with a psychedelic twist this month, when Banana and David Nelson take to the stage. In addition, the excellent Backdoor Men will be playing and organisers are also hoping Ian Dunlop will appear. Resident in Cornwall since the late 60s, Ian and Banana go way back to the 1965 Boston coffee-house folk scene, before Banana joined the Youngbloods and Ian hooked up with Gram Parsons in the pioneering country-rock band The International Submarine Band and co-founding the original Flying BurritoBrothers. The tour is essentially all-acoustic — expect to see more of Banana's vast collection of vintage stringed instruments and plenty of sweet harmonies. Proceedings at The White Horse start at 8pm on March 10, admission is £8 on the door.
