TRAIN enthusiast Theresa Blalskova will always remember her trip on the Dartmoor Railway. Not only did boyfriend Steven Allen surprise her with a day out learning to drive her favourite locomotive, but as she drove the train under a bridge, he had placed a banner on it asking: ?Theresa, will you marry me?? Theresa, 29, said: ?I was shocked, speechless. I threw my gloves at him and started laughing.? Happy Theresa accepted Steven?s proposal and the pair are planning a wedding some time soon. Knowing Theresa was a keen railway enthusiast and had a particular fondness for the ?Class 37? diesel locomotive, Steven did ?lots of research on the internet? to find a suitable venue. The couple travelled all the way from Bedfordshire to drive the Class 37 loco on Monday and became the Dartmoor Railway?s first driver course participants. Theresa said she liked the class 37 because it had character. ?It?s got a nose on each side, it?s just wonderful,? she said. Dartmoor Railway?s commercial manager Hannah Creasy said the company had been thinking of running drivers? courses for enthusiasts and Steven called at just the right time. They hope to make the courses a regular fixture but not all will be quite as memorable. Steven, 37, is a railway policeman in London and Theresa works as a train conductor ? but would really like to be a driver!
