TWO young members of Tavistock Girls' Football Club are celebrating this week after successfully completing four weeks of trials with the Plymouth Argyle Centre of Excellence.

Robynne Honey, aged ten, and Chloe Bassett, 11, have been accepted into the Plymouth Argyle Under 12s girls' squad, with Robynne chosen as goalkeeper.

Sue Hammond, the girl's Tavistock team manager, said: 'Both Robynne and Chloe have competed with the best and proved they are worthy of a place in the Centre of Excellence.

'This will give them the opportunity of training with the best and competing against the best. I think Tavistock should be proud of them — I certainly am.'

Both girls will still be able to compete for Tavistock, much to Sue's delight.

Robynne played her debut match for Argyle last Saturday against Bristol City Under 12s.

During a four-quarter, roll-on, roll-off match, Argyle just lost 1-2, both City's goals being scored at the beginning of a considerably weaker second quarter.
