POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl was robbed by two males in Tavistock last week.

On Saturday evening, August 27 at around 11pm, two males robbed a 16-year-old girl in the Rocky Hill area of Tavistock. The males stole her bank cards and a distinctive yellow Ipod Nano, along with between £35 and £40 cash, and then ran off up Rocky Hill turning left onto Watts Road.

One of the males was described as about 5ft 10 to 6ft, in his late teens possibly early 20s with short hair. He was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms, a dark hoody and was of slim build.

The second male was described as being of a similar age to the first male, about 5ft 10, wearing black jeans, a black hoody and white Nike trainers. He had dark brown chin-length hair.

The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries by the paramedics.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the two males described in the area, and are asking residents in the area to check their back gardens for any discarded identity cards or bank cards.

Officers are also appealing for a taxi driver who assisted the girl in Bedford Square just after the attack by allowing her to use his phone to contact a friend.

Police say this type of incident is rare in Tavistock, and are asking the public for their assistance.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 5377 Lawson on 08452 777444 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
