DEVON County Council has released an update on the A386 Hatherleigh Bypass to Meeth roadworks to keep locals informed during the four-month programme.

Between Hatherleigh and the Station Cottages, just south of Meeth Hall, the majority of the works, including surfacing, will be carried out at night, between 8pm and 7am.

From the centre of Meeth to Station Cottages, the surfacing will be done during the day on Saturdays and Sundays, with other minor works carried out during weekdays.

During the surfacing works, the A386 will be closed and a diversion in place.

Residents of the properties adjacent to the works will still be able to get to and from their homes including customers of the Bull and Dragon and any other business premises.

The work so far has entailed kerb laying and drainage works between Hele Bridge and Friars Hele Cross along with excavating and replacing surfacing between Fishleigh House and Friars Hele Cross.

Kerbing and drainage works will continue by day at the above site and this will require two sets of temporary traffic signals operating for 24-hours a day until December 22.

The night-time work will also continue between Fishleigh House and Friars Hele Cross. Subject to weather this will continue until Saturday (December 15.)

The works will be suspended over Christmas for two weeks with contractors back on site on January 7.
