RACING boats on Roadford Lake is becoming a popular pastime with sailors young and old. The sailing club at the site sometimes attracts up to 80 boats for special events. All types of sailing boats are welcome but skippers must have a level one or two sailing certificate and be confident to helm a boat. The Goodacre Cup, recently held at Roadford, involved 30 participants from all over the country and was won by a competitor from Kent. Roadford Lake is open all year round for sailing events and some hardy sailors even brave the waters in the depths of January.
