ROADWORKS at Chillaton have just commenced on the Lifton road and comprise kerbing and footpath resurfacing.

This is low priority work which could well have been left over whilst more important tasks are tackled. I am here referring to the need to widen the same road at its approach to the village centre.

The Highways Authority has been approached regarding the widening of this busy and dangerous section of road but have declined to act.

It would seem that we have to suffer a death or serious accident before they can be persuaded otherwise. In the meantime there is a council tax-funded budget to be spent and this is being frittered away on pavement resurfacing.
