BLACKSMITHS from all over the country will descend on the National Trust?s Finch Foundry at Sticklepath this Saturday, November 20, for their annual St Clement?s Day celebrations.

They will give demonstrations of their craft and take part in competitions.

The traditional ?Anvil Firing? will ensure the day goes with a bang for visitors at the early 19th century foundry.

Celebrations will be helped along by the ?Cogs and Wheels? Morris dancers to encourage a traditional party atmosphere.

Roger Boney, Finch Foundry custodian said: ?This annual event is a real honour to hold at the property. Every year we see increasing numbers interested in what the property has to offer and the need to learn more about our industrial past. Saint Clement?s Day is a day when all the best traditional skills are on display at the property.?

The foundry will open especially just for the day, and entry will be free for the first 100 visitors. The trust shop will be open for visitors to stock up on all those essential Christmas goodies and refreshments will be available from the Roundhouse tearoom.
