OKEHAMPTON and District Community Transport Group will be providing transport for anyone unable to walk from Okehampton town centre to the parish church for Sunday's Remembrance Day service.
Some ex-servicemen and women and elderly residents who want to attend the service have found the route up the hill to the parish church a little too demanding in recent years, so a 'Ring and Ride' minibus will be in action on Sunday morning to take the weight off their feet.
This generous offer to transport the frail, elderly and disabled to All Saints Parish Church has been made as a gesture of goodwill, thanks to the Okehampton Lions Club.
Through fundraising efforts by the club, the six-seater people carrier is now fitted to take a wheelchair.
The vehicle will operate a free shuttle service, between the town hall and the church from 10.30am. The return journey will operate at the end of the service to bring people back to the town centre for the parade.
Any queries should be addressed to Okehampton and District Community Transport Group on 01837 55000.
