A TAVISTOCK club which this year commemorates its 100th anniversary is holding a special celebration dinner ? and hopes as many present and former members as possible will be able to come. Tavistock Miniature Rifle Club was formed in 1905 with 85 members. Initially, shooting took place in Tavistock Pannier Market, but in the 1940s the club moved to the drill hall in West Street, then to Tavistock College in 1965. The club arrived at its current base in Pixon Lane, on the site of an old grain store at the Tavistock South Railway Station, in 1971. The anniversary dinner will be held at the Eagle House Hotel in Launceston at 7.30pm on Saturday October 8. For further details call 01822 613312.
