Okehampton 3
Marjons of Plymouth B 3
A DRAMATIC second half comeback gave Okehampton a share of the points in their Gerrard League hockey match on Saturday.
Okehampton started badly, and a poorly defended short corner gave Marjons two early goals.
The students scored a third before half-time as they spread the ball around the pitch with ease.
Marjons dominated play early in the second half, but failed to add to their tally. Okehampton defended bravely and as the minutes ticked away they raised their game. Throwing caution to the wind they attacked with venom and Martin Vigars' accurate cross was tapped in by Simon Garland.
Winning the ball back from the restart Chris Luxton collected a straight pass and pushed past the keeper for Okehampton's second.
Okehampton realised they were in with a chance of some points and pushed hard. In so doing they rattled the visitors' defence.
Okehampton's equaliser duly came in dramatic fashion. Richard Jones drove into the circle and and unleashed a shot high into the net, giving the Marjons keeper no chance.
A good fight back from Okehampton sets them up well for this week's game against PGSOBs.
