AUGUST has proved to be a rewarding month for one of Tavistock Golf Club?s juniors, Luke Wakley, featuring prominently in three competitions held during the month.
Last bank holiday Monday saw the annual President?s competition with a field of 152 playing on a fine but breezy day.
The course was in excellent condition, reflected in the scores. Both the men?s winner, Andy Coe, and the junior winner, Luke Wakley scoring 42 points. The ladies? winner was Sally Hills with 37 points.
There were 17 ?twos? scored, but given the wind direction and strength, none at the 14th!
Thanks go to the club president, Albert Rowse, for his support in providing the prizes for the day which will be presented at the annual presentation evening on Friday November 26.
The John Morris Trophy on August 14 was another close competition won again by Luke Wakley from Dan Lowe and David Young, all scoring net 65s, with Luke winning on the back 9.
