IN 1846 my great grandfather William Brook left Okehampton with members of the Paltridge and Heanes families to sail to South Australia. The family he left behind were two brothers, John and James and two sisters Ann and Jane. Ten years later his father, William and stepmother, Charity nee Phillips, and their children Mary Ann and Edward also left to live in South Australia. Contact was kept up with the family and photos exchanged. In the 1890s William Jnr visited England to purchase a shire horse Stallion and he also visited the family in Devon. Many years later relatives from Devon journeyed to visit the Brook family who lived at the time in Woodchester, South Australia. Their names were ?Brooksey? Brown and Ada Howard, and we think they were sisters or cousins.
