Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 3

Callington 1

Tregony 0

CALLINGTON had done their homework following their defeat at Tregony two weeks ago. It was a victory for the youth policy that Callington have adapted - three of the teenagers were playing their first senior game.

Sam Picken, keeper, looked as if he had been there all season, making important saves as Tregony pushed forward, trying to save the game. Stephen Kelly caught the eye with some strong running and came within a whisker of scoring and Tom Hall had some superb control. Callington had a goal ruled out when Wooley fired in a free kick from almost halfway, but the ref indicated it had been an indirect free kick. Minutes later, following a Ben Smith corner, Ian Rooke managed to hook the ball goalwards and it sailed high into the corner of the net. Callington continued to push and only a fantastic save from Tregony?s keeper prevented Hartley from doubling the lead.

In the second half Tregony really went for the equaliser but with Wooley, Vanstone and Tom Reid on the top of their game, there was no way through, Reid scrambling the ball off the line with almost the last kick.
