TAVISTOCK has been shortlisted by BT as a candidate for Broadband Internet Services, which can dramatically speed up access to the internet.
The latest announcement regarding the national rollout of Broadband internet services has identified the Tavistock exchange as a candidate for upgrading to the hi-tech ADSL service.
Those interested in broadband services can visit a pre-registration web page on the BT website. A threshold of 350 pre-registrations has been set by BT, before an exchange can be scheduled for upgrading.
Tavistock resident Steve Crook, has already registered with BT.
'It is a cheaper service and it doesn't tie up your land telephone line,' he said.
Mr Crook is asking those who think they might be interested in BT's broadband services to visit the website at http://www.bt.com">www.bt.com
There is no firm commitment required on the part of those who pre-register.
