THE numerous refurbishment works at Castle Drogo will be the topic for discussion at the next group meeting of the U3A on Thursday, March 26.
Paula Clarke, the property's community engagement officer, will be visiting the group to talk about exactly work is being done to save the castle, and why it needs to be done.
Castle Drogo is currently undergoing a five year £11-million renovation project to save the castle from major structural problems caused by serious leaks and water penetration throughout the building.
More than 64 kilometres of mortar joints need repointing, and all 917 windows of the property need to be removed and repaired before being put back in place.
The meeting opens at 2.30pm at the Ockment Centre's Garden Room, with the talk starting shortly after.
At the meeting, the latest news regarding membership, a raffle and refreshments will be available.
