A WEST Devon angler and his daughter came face-to-face with two large sharks when both caught the fearsome creatures on a recent fishing trip.
Zyg Gregorek and his daughter Zenia went fishing at Clovelly and landed the remarkable double catch of two porbeagle sharks.
Zyg, proprietor of Anglers Paradise at Halwill, has fished all over the world, and although he has caught most species of shark before, including a great white in South Africa and a grey shark from Ascension Island, he explained this was the first fish over 100lb he had ever caught in British waters.
Zyg?s catch weighed in at 150lb, while his daughter?s tipped the scales at 120lb.
l A thirteen year-old boy on holiday in West Devon landed a memorable catch when he reeled in a giant catfish last week.
Keen angler Tom Fleetwood from Merseyside, was fishing at Anglers Paradise at Halwill, last Tuesday evening (July 22) when he landed the 41.5lb catfish.
Tom?s mum, Teresa Fleetwood said her fishing-mad son had reeled the massive catch in by himself.
?He landed it on his own, and it took about 45 minutes,? she said.
Teresa said Zyg Gregorek, proprietor of Anglers Paradise had told the family that Tom had caught the biggest catfish at the lake, and one that many anglers had been trying to hook for years.
Tom?s older brother James, 16, wasn?t going to be left out either, he caught a 22lb catfish during the week-long holiday as well.
