THE official re-opening of the new Sticklepath Village Hall takes place this Saturday, October 18.

The committee hopes as many villagers as possible will be present from 11am onwards to admire the new facility, previously known as the Back Lane Annex. It is now a spacious meeting room/kitchen with an enhanced storage area.

This transformation is the completion of the first phase of the village hall refurbishment programme.

The new room will be officially named on the day, and committee chairman Jerry Stephens will outline the remaining objectives of phases two and three of the project, for which yet more fundraising is needed.

In addition to villagers from Sticklepath, it is hoped anyone keen to assess the potential use of the hall for future events such as parties, classes and lectures, will also come and see the modernisation work that has been undertaken.

Special invitations have been sent to the various agencies which have been instrumental in securing funds to enable this work to be carried out. These include Dartmoor National Park, West Devon Borough Council, Sticklepath Parish Council, Devon Community Council and the EX Lottery.

The grand re-opening will take the form of an informal reception, with coffee and cakes being served.
