THE Devon branch of the British Red Cross is promising residents an early Christmas treat this month with a yuletide fair at Tavistock Town Hall.
The branch has organised the event for Friday, November 12 and a spokesperson said: ‘This is all set to be a wonderful event with plenty of unique stalls for people to come and buy all those different Christmas presents.
‘The fair will be open from 10am to 4pm, and entry is free but we hope people will want to buy at least one raffle ticket. It will also give people a great opportunity to meet up with friends and have a coffee and cake.
‘From cow hide, to dog accessories, to jewellery to chocolate, there is a completely eclectic mixture of stalls from which people can find a gift for everyone on their Christmas list.’
The spokesperson said the British Red Cross, like so many charities, needed public support.
The charity said last year, more than 37,000 people were supported by the South West and Channel Islands Independent Living and Crisis Response, with more than 1,600 patient transport journeys, taking people to and from hospital, carried out.
Meanwhile, refugee support helped 445 people or families living in Devon by providing vital services like advice, food parcels and travel assistance.
There were 71 recipients of the Hardship Fund in Devon alone and four Mobility Aids Hubs loaning out equipment including 250 wheelchairs for Devon residents. The list is endless, and continues. As well as having a good day out, you will be supporting the much needed work of the British Red Cross.
