TAVISTOCK Red Cross is celebrating this week after the successful expansion of its medical loan service.

Under the leadership of Julia Felles, the local group has moved into new premises in the town centre, making it more accessible for those needing equipment such as wheelchairs, walking frames, commodes and many other appliances.

Following donations totalling more than £2,300, which were collected during Red Cross week, Tavistock has, for the third year running, won the 'Chairman's Cup' for collecting the most money.

One of the group's newest recruits, David Roden, has volunteered to raise further funds by having his legs waxed at the celebration on Tuesday, June 30 at Tavistock Football Club Social Hall.
