THE Tavistock Air Cadet Unit took advantage of the recent visit of a member of the Red Arrows ground crew to present cadet awards.

Sgt John Cox is in charge of the transport for the ground support team of the famous display team and has travelled all over the world with them.

He visited 2312 (Tavistock) squadron recently and gave an insight into the life and work of the Red Arrows and the Royal Air Force.

Sgt Cox was delighted to present Sgt Callum Smith with his BTEC in Public Service.

Callum achieved the award with a distinction.

He also presented Master Air Cadet certificates to Michael Ives and Rory Forbes and Leading Cadet badges to Rosy Brown, Emily Baker-Thurston, Sean Algar and Robert Waddy.

The squadron is hoping to install a new teaching and learning facility next year so that cadets can study for their qualifications using the 'up to the minute' methods.
