A WALK is taking place on Dartmoor next month, to recreate an ancient 13th century journey across the moorland's Lych Way.
The route follows one which was undertaken by members of the parish of Lydford when carrying coffins to their final place of rest.
The journey today is a demanding walk of 13 miles across moorland and rivers, from Bellever Forest Car Park and traversing Lych Way to arrive at the National Trust car park at Lydford Gorge. Teams are required to put their navigational skills to the test and plot their own route in order to arrive at their final destination before sunset.
The event will be taking place on Sunday, September 18 at 9am and all walkers are expected to have completed their journey by 6pm. The minimum donation for the trek is £10, with all proceeds in aid of Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team.
