A DEDICATED member of the Monkokehampton Ladies' Circle has been awarded a special certificate to acknowledge her 65 years of collecting for the Poppy Appeal.
Enid Stentiford from Monkokehampton was presented with the certificate, which was signed by the chairman of the Royal British Legion at Haig House in London, on February 17.
Mrs Stentiford took over collecting for the Poppy Appeal in 1944, when her aunt, who used to take the poppies around the Monkokehampton area, retired from the role.
Mrs Stentiford also received a 65-year Bar for her 30 year brooch and ceramic poppy label pin.
The presentation was made in the presence of members of the Monkokehampton Ladies' Circle at their monthly meeting.
Poppy Appeal organiser for Okehampton and District, Val Hoar, expressed thanks to everyone who supports the Poppy Appeal.
She said: 'The funds raised are needed just as much today as in the past, and indeed, will be needed for many years to come to support all veterans, their families and dependants, from past and present conflicts.'
