TAVISTOCK'S Oxfam shop is appealing for unwanted books to enable it to continue its successful second-hand book sales.

Oxfam is currently the biggest second-hand book retailer in the country, and Claire Heatley of the Tavistock branch said the local shop reflected this success, thanks to the generosity of local people.

'So we can continue to be successful and send help to wherever it is so badly needed, could we have those holiday paperbacks when you come home?

'Any good quality books would be much appreciated, either in our book bank at Safeway or direct to the Oxfam shop,' Claire said.

The Oxfam shop is at 5 Market Street and can be contacted on 01822 613901.
