Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 2
Camelford 1
Mary Tavy 3
MARY Tavy, having taken full points at their earlier meeting, travelled for the return fixture and came away thanking Mark Piper for two glorious strikes to seal the win.
All the action took place in the first half with Matt Salisbury shooting just over and the home side striking the post in the first ten minutes. Only three minutes passed when Lee Bartlett twisted and turned before setting up Salisbury with the opener.
Bartlett himself then went close with a header that just flashed wide of the target.
Tavy continued to make chances with Stephens and Pedrick outstanding. Salisbury was unlucky not to get his second and was only thwarted by the keeper whose unfortunate clearance fell straight to Piper?s feet, who with majestic precision lobbed the ball over him into an empty net.
Tavy had the chance to finish off their opponents but saw James Philpott?s penalty thunder against the crossbar and were duly repaid by a breakaway that led to Camelford?s goal.
Two minutes into the second half Tavy secured the points when Piper, receiving the ball on the edge of the area, curled a dipping shot into the far corner.
Tony Rawlings, who had little to do for most of the match in Tavy?s goal, made a superb save in the dying moments, tipping the ball over at full stretch.
