DJM U15 Defiance
Activate Youth U15s 1
Horrabridge Rangers U15s 0
HORRABRIDGE will wonder how they left Activate with nothing after they dominated the game for large periods.
Rangers started well and playing up the slope passed the ball well with Josh Birch and Max Burgess both having half chances comfortably saved by the home goalkeeper. Whenever the home side did threat it was courtesy of their Goalkeepers long kicking but it was always well dealt with by the Horrabridge defence who were always well marshalled by Jack Northam and Will Glanville. Horrabridge's best chance of the half came when Josh Birch beat two defenders before unleashing a fierce drive from 18 yards that forced a good save from the keeper.
Horrabridge upped their tempo in the second half but struggled at times with their final ball. Courtney Fry gave the Activate right-back a real headache for most of the half and the home defence in general were finding it hard to deal with Horrabridge's quick passing and the movement of Birch and Burgess up front.
Horrabridge thought they had taken the lead after 60 minutes when Taylor Kingham and Harry Eaton combined well to send Fry racing clear and cutting inside unleashed a strike that was superbly saved by the keeper.
With five minutes to go Activate were awarded a penalty for a foul that was converted by the home striker. Horrabridge bombarded the Activate goal in the last minutes of the game but the home side hung on to collect the points.
